For the number 10 spot we have a tie between So So Def’s Jermaine Dupri and the St. Lunatics’s Nelly. In 2006 their estimated net worth came in at $60 Million(respectively).
Jermaine Dupri

His current roster includes Young Capone, Dem Franchize Boyz, Da Kid Slim, Daz (aka Daz Dillinger & Dat Nigga Daz), T. Waters, and Johnta Austin. Nelly

With over five number 1 singles and 4 Grammies, Nelly has build his fortune to a net worth of $10 million dollars. While other rappers stick to music, Nelly has many other business endeavors. In 2005 he co-starred in the Longest Yard along side Adam Sandler, Burt Reynolds, and Chris Rock. He also has a part in the clothing Lines, Vokal and Apple Bottoms.
9. 50 Cent – $100 Million

Selling 872,000 copies within its first week, Get Rich or Die Trying went platinum within 2 weeks of it’s release and broke the record for first week sales of any major label debut in the history of the Soundscan era.
Since then, 50 has amassed his fortune by branching out into other mediums such as Television, Movies, Books, and Merchandise. He has stakes in Vitamin Water (Formula 50), Reebok Sneakers (G Unit kicks), G Unit’s Clothing line, Video Games (50 Cent Bullet Proof), Movies (Get Rich or Die Trying, Home of the Brave, The Dance), and recently has launched G Unit Books.

They also run their own label, Star Trek, which features artists such as Snoop Dogg, Slim Thug, and Robyn Thicke.
4. Damon Dash, $200 Million
At number 4 we have what may come as a surprise to many of you. However, former Rocafella Exec Dame Dash, has been making big moves in the last couple of years. In 2004, Dash sold his stake in Roc-A-Fella records to Def Jam records for $10 million. He then founded the Damon Dash Music Group with the senior record company. Dash also had a stake in the million dollar a year, Rocawear clothing line; which he sold to Jay Z for $30 Million. He also partnered up with a financial institution and released a line of re-loadable Visa debit cards.
2. Jay Z, $340 Million
At number 2 we have the current president and CEO of the aforementioned Def Jam Records and the Roc-A-Fella empire. In 2006, Jay z’s estimated net worth came in at $340 Million. Aside from his multi platinum records selling career, Jay Z has stakes in numerous businesses. His multi-million dollar company, Roc-a-fella, is home to some of raps most famous names and it’s made up of Roc-A-Fella Records, Roc-La-Familia, Roc-A-Fella Films and Rocawear. He also Co-owns the upscale sports bar, The 40/40 club which started in New York City and has since expanded to Atlantic City, NJ. Future plans will see 40/40 Clubs in Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Singapore. Roc-A-Fella also distributes Armadale, a Scottish vodka, in the U.S.
Jay-Z is also working as a co-brand director for Budweiser Select, collaborating with the company on strategic marketing programs and creative ad development. He will be providing direction on brand programs and ads that appear on TV, radio, print, and high-profile events.
He is currently a minority owner of the New Jersey Nets and is the face of many products through sponsor deals.
1. P. Diddy $346 Million
P. Diddy, Diddy, Puff Daddy, Poppa diddy pop, he migh’ve been going through an identity crisis over the years; but I’ll tell you one thing is certain. Sean “Diddy” Combs is the richest man in hip hop. In 2006 his net worth was estimated at a mind blowing $346 Million. Wether it’s tv productions, movie productions, clothing lines, music, or colognes, Diddy will market it and make millions off it.
Diddy presides over a media empire that includes the record label Bad Boy Records, the clothing lines Sean John and Sean by Sean Combs, a movie production company, and two restaurants. He has taken the roles of recording executive, performer, producer of MTV’s “Making the Band,” writer, arranger, clothing designer, and Broadway actor.
In 2006, Diddy’s signature “Unforgivable” men’s cologne, became the top selling fragrance of ‘06 averaging sales between $1.3 million and $1.5 million per week. Fragrances typically sell $650,000 per week.
Honorable Mentions:
R.Kelly’s net worth for 2006 came in at $150 Million, however, since he’s more R&B than hip hop, he was left out. Janet Jackson also came in at $150 Million, but she was left out because she’s pop.
Kanye West should be showing up on one of these lists soon. He has a line of movies coming out and his Touch The Sky tour grossed $16.9 Million last year.
Master P Didn’t make the list simply because he’s just not that rich. Lets not forget he filed for bankruptcy a few years back.
Will Smith is more of an actor than a rapper, he isn’t in hip hop enough to be considered.
For those of you who were wondering who the richest man in the music industry is, The Beatles’ Sir Paul McCartney, is worth $3 ‘Billion’ dollars.

50cent isn't hiphop...hiphop is a culture,an attitude,a political movement, a way of life...it is not a genre of music....there is very few mainstream artists that i would class as living the hiphop life/culture

Let's talk about the only reason yo ass went to Miami
big truck wit rims (check) throw back jersey (check)
champagne bottles (check) lot's of models (check)
Damn that's the list for 90 percent of ya'll videos and songs
Am I wrong??!!
LOST
Is when you rhyme til your throat gets sore
But you don't even believe what you say no more
FOUND
Is when you bleed heart into the mic
And the pain you sustain it can change a life
LOST
Is when you hide behind the freedom of speech
While sure you're free to do it
But what it mean to do it
Did you mean to do it
Did you need to do it
Did you take time to think about the seeds you ruined
FOUND Is ESCO, dead PREZ and them
FOUND Is Lauren Hill
FOUND Is Rakim
FOUND Can be you
If you felt the message and ask yourself this question
tell me he aint spittin the truth^^^...tell me he aint "real"
Yo, ain't no better man for this hype track
Just the veteran taking the mic back
David Letterman even said he like that track man
Even though he ain't a rap fan
Black ra-di-o, they won't play-me-though
Ever since "Summ-er-time" they ain't liked none-o'-mine
Even though the fans went out & bought enough
I guess they think Will ain't hard enough
so we know he uses multies and shit^^
Why is the bomb always getting the last word
& why did her uncle have to molest her
& why did all them cops have to be shootin' to kill
& why did all them priests have to act so ill
Tell me why did James Byrd Jr. have to be touched
Tell me why did Malcolm & Martin depart from us
Tell me why did that sniper make the little boy shoot
& why does human life always denied for loot
Tell me why did Mandela have to live in a cage
Why did my brother Sterling have to die at that age
Tell me why did Reginald Denny deserve his fate
& why the fuck can't love seem to defeat hate
Tell me why is it so hard for all the children to eat
Why did Pac & Biggie Smalls have to fall in the street
Tell me why did Jam Master Jay have to go that way
Please what am I supposed to say to my kids when they say 'Why?'
i'm not highlighting multies and shit in there cause that aint what's improtant...it's what he's saying that's important...he's talking about real shit, real life....he is one of the few mainstream rappers that even come close to living hiphop....he still doesn't quite make it tho..maybe before his fame he was living that hiphop culture and that's why i still see parts of it in him...
but yeah don't doubt will has skill just because he's an actor and his singles are always club bangers

^he got no complexity at all...just cuz he got some multies this doesn't mean he's lyrically good cuz his rhymes are the most consumed/played out rhymes ever, he lacks tremendous amounts of vocabs
Big, Huge, Substantial LOL at his so called multies:
man, fan, back, track, rap
!!! lol
yeah I'm Stan the man, understand that, I got a gat in my hand, I'm a fan of the man, my shit is grand, you can't stand...!
point is he surely lacks vocabs if the multies you used are his best.
& yeah he says the truth, just like billions of other mainstream/underground rappers...Eminem said it many times, Royce siad id in "I & Me" (a track Will will never ever make as half good as), Today, Ding Ding & many others, Nas said the truth in One Mic, Blunt Ashes, & many others...Immortal Technique said the truth in almost every song...
but you know what's the difference between Will & those? they were tellin the truth through dope lyrics with sick complexity. Moreover, Will voice sucks & he got no delivery at all.
anywayz, afterall it's your opinion...personally I got high standerds cuz Em, Nas, Royce are my fave rappers so I'm used to sick complex shit in a mold of reality...

NO DELIVERY????!!!! YOU HAVEN'T EVEN HEARD THOSE SONGS
i mean seriously stan we are talking about mainstream rappers, royce is not mainstream, im/tech is not mainstream...i didn't say will is the most complex i was proving the point he is better than 50cent because you said he wasn't...i was proving the point he is better than most the mainstream....there is millions of rappers in the mainstream..YOU LISTEN TO TWO(nas and em)
will smith isn't a great rapper...he is a decent rapper which is more than can be said for the majority of the mainstream now-a-days...
oh and lacks vocab??
Tightnin the vices of truth on the roofless
This is rhyme and the crime in their minds is just useless
The path of the poison, the genesis of the genisi
you and your boys tryin to decide, what to write
but your hand is a sword and the blade has been forged
young minds gettin gorged Stakes have been altered
by liqour(sp?) or by weed and then hate gets exaltered
as art falls to greed, Choices is Made that's the voices is laid
on the track, contract, the soldier wage, did you see his new benz?
but your like a syringe now proud of your binge
btw i'm showing you multies i'm showing you his vocab...i would like to see fiddy come up with something like that^^^..and i am not saying that is great vocab...just better than people like g-unit etc etc
i am not saying will smith is the best rapper ever...he isn't even in the top 50...but he does have skill...more skill than the majority of mainstream...

*scratches his head over & over trying to remember*
when did I say 50 was better than Will?! I said 50 is more hip hop. I didn't say he was better, they both suck. I meant that 50 is more hip hop referring to the fact that he's a rapper, period. While Will is a rapper/actor...oops I mean ACTOR/rapper. that was my whole point.

Vocabs should be parts of rhymes/multies/inner rhymes/alliterations. Vocabs in the middle of the lines are necessary too but they're secondary to the rhymes.

I listened to the best album of almost every mainstream rapper & I didn't feel much of them, hence, Em & Nas are the only two I liked...
