Living life within the bottle, thinking existence is hollow,
wondering why governments create the systems we follow/
Built in a model, in my mind it's simply time that is borrowed,
binding through sorrow,
never knowing if we'll even still be alive when tomorrow/
Dawns upon the populous, New York's the metropolis,
and it's filled with cops that just, wanna lock us up/
Fighting for the right to speak, society is violently trying to silence me,
creating ways to take away the teacher's right to preach/
You might just reach, for the next degree, well do it slowly,
or you'll soley catch 41 bullets in ya domepiece wholly/
Going boldy, towards the abyss, not knowing who the nemesis is,
they got us brothers fighting each other, though it's mostly just irrelevant shit/
Not even knowing what sentiment is, out for the scheme,
out for this cream, niggas got a lot of dreams,
but we forgot about 'em/
Cause from Elementary to Penitentiary, we've been taught to doubt 'em/
Though we're lost without 'em, we scream and shout 'em,
when actions speak louder than words, observe, and ask Adam and Eve,
cause if money is the root, then it's Evil that's growing in trees/

Hook:
All we have is sports and entertainment, it's all enslavement,
niggas betraying themselves in the name of a pay check/
Or to be famous, it's aimless, our fate's to be the brainless carrier,
of their message forgetting the blames rests, at the Gateless Barrier/

With shit that sets the visions loose, my quip within this loop,
is living proof, that, not all hidden truth comes from forbidden fruit/
So, fuck an interlude, or pausing for messages, the lesson is,
within this rhetoric, Hip Hop needs betterment/
So check the evidence, we're living in slavery,
basically aiding these hating thieves, who flagrantly pay emcees/
To corrupt the ghetto, we're not angels so we don't trust the Devil,
and yet we're the puppets who think it's safe to trust Jeppeto/
Living in a state of hipocrisy in the name of democracy,
constantly dying for another's philosophy/
Or the richer man's monopoly, keeping it real,
seeking a deal, without even asking for the reason's revealed/
Perpetuating violence and slugs, the silence of thugs,
often comes equipped with the knowledge that rhyming's a drug/
The opiate of the masses, is not religion, but the shit that we living,
spitting on topics, living backwards instead of growing with wisdom/
And a contract's a prison, to which most would like to submit,
you'll find it's legit that the gift in exchange for ya soul is a hit/
Of coke, weed, dope, speed, top ten in the Billboard magazine
man...it's time to come clean, and realize all is not what it seems...

Hook:
All we have is sports and entertainment, it's all enslavement,
niggas betraying themselves in the name of a pay check/
Or to be famous, it's aimless, our fate's to be the brainless carrier,
of the message forgetting the blames rests, at the Gateless Barrier/

Hip Hop, worse than a minstrel show, a kiss of death under the mistletoe,
when spitting simple flows, turns itself into a picture show for pimps and hoes/
Emcees, being the latter, seeking the stature that we've manufactured,
dreaming of gleaming as rappers, iced out heathens we lead to the pasture/
The reasoning's fractured, this scene's a disaster speaking as pastors,
when we're just pleading to be pleasing screaming demons, our masters/
Even after the meaning has passed us...bruised and maimed,
who's to blame? I say, in every way it's stupid aims and foolish claims/
Yet the truth remains, in exchange for loot and fame we lose our names,
and it's proof the game's, just a slew of slaves, who be wearing a noose of loosened chains/
So the Root's estranged, as evidence, our exodus is directionless,
since we're striving for Benjamin estimates instead of excellence/
It's then imperative, to fight oppression, enlightening cypher sessions,
writing minor lessons and ending the mind's suppression/
Much like hypertension, caused by men who acknowledge it,
college kids who's knowledge is the ways to abolish our politics/
It's obvious, that our dominance relies on the truest lies,
although the rule applies, to the prominence of the bluest eyes/
Causing fools to die, brutalized, for trying gain the right to claim,
that ignorance is bliss, and yet, never really worth the price of fame/
