Dr Dre has been named as the highest earning urban star of last year. The West Coast rapper/producer took the No 2 position on the Rolling Stone's list of the 50 highest earning artists of 2001. Stadium rockers U2 took the No 1 spot.
Rolling Stone revealed that Dre earned a hefty $1 million per week in 2001. The studio wizard has his own recording career as well as producing for the likes of Eminem, Snoop Dogg and Mary J Blige. Sales of Mary's Family Affair single netted Dre around $2m of his annual $52m income.
Rapper and entrepreneur Master P also had a good year. Despite earlier reports of bankruptcy, the Southern rap mogul earned $36m in 2001 from his No Limit Records enterprise and took the No 6 spot on the list.
